Our Changing World - Queues
Queues are an unavoidable part of modern life. At the bus stop, the cafe, the traffic lights, on the internet. Most of us just find them a nuisance, but University of Auckland mathematician Ilze Ziedins is fascinated by them. When Auckland Hospital was having issues with high cancellations for cardiac surgery they called on Ilze to see if her knowledge of managing queues could help them out.
