Your Place - Pukerua Bay

From Afternoons, 1:24 pm on 3 October 2013

A small coastal community 30 minutes north of Wellington, Pukerua Bay - which means 2 hills - is a wedge of a town tucked into steep bush-clad hills looking out to sea. After the original pa, it wasn't until the train came through in 1886 that Pukerua Bay came out of isolation. It opened up as a weekend get-away and was connected to Wellington and Paekakariki by road in the 1930s.
