Toy soldiers booming business

From Afternoons, 2:10 pm on 23 April 2014

Two brothers in the Wairarapa, who specialise in a rather rare trade, have been hard at work, crafting a unique collector's item for next year's 100th ANZAC anniversary. Allan and Ian Farley create toy soldiers, real toy soldiers made from metal with a full gloss paint finish. Soldiers from many battlefields: the Boer War and the Napoleonic wars, there are Romans and Celts, Zulus, Boxers, Saxons and of course... ANZACs. On their production line at the moment is a special series of figurines of New Zealand ANZACs, fresh from training, and ready to embark for what was then thought of as the great adventure abroad.
