Simon Morris looks at films that attempted to cash in on popular, best-selling novels, and a perceived, not particularly choosey section of the market.   And by contrast, he finds one that just sets out to be good.

Featured this week – Inferno, in which Tom Hanks returns as Dan Brown’s art-expert detective, Professor Robert Langdon.

The Clan is an award-winning Argentinian film about a real-life family of kidnappers, with an unlikely, but true, New Zealand connection.

And Golden years features a gang of pensioner bank-robbers, with some familiar TV faces in the cast.
