A Hamilton farmer says he and his boss had a lucky escape after four of their cows were struck by lightning and killed. Thunderstorms lashed parts of the North Island this morning, particularly Auckland. More than eight hundred and fifty lightning strikes were spotted in Auckland skies with one hundred and thirty of those reported in just five minutes. Warning, some people might find some footage in this story distressing.
