A petition demanding better protection for native dolphins was presented to the government on Monday, signed by 55,000 people.
Monday is the final day of public consultation on the government's review of the Threat Management Plan, which outlines the government's steps to protect the mammals.
Conservationists, scientists and the actor Robyn Malcolm attended the rally, which marched through central Wellington, before presenting the petition to Eugenie Sage, the Conservation Minister.
RNZ reporter Harry Lock was also there.
