Under siege Christchurch Councillor Deon Swiggs has addressed the media for the first time since allegations of inappropriate behaviour emerged.
Three complainants, aged between 13 and 21 at the time, say that Deon Swiggs engaged in 'grossly inappropriate' late-night messaging on social media on numerous occasions and insisted on hugs instead of handshakes.
He has denied all allegations of misconduct.
Mr Swiggs released a statement on Monday saying he would take a break from council duties and campaigning while an investigation into the allegations were carried out.
