Public health officials are racing to track down dozens of people who may have been in close contact with the second New Zealander diagnosed with coronavirus.
The woman, in her 30s, returned from Northern Italy last week before the restrictions for returning travellers to isolate themselves were in place.
As she started to feel unwell, she took two domestic flights this week - between Auckland and Palmerston North.
She tested positive for the disease on Tuesday night after getting a swab by her GP.
Health correspondent Rowan Quinn filed this report.
Checkpoint spoke to the woman who is confirmed to have corona virus earlier on Wednesday.
The woman says she is concerned about the privacy of her family.
