New Zealanders arriving back in the country from overseas have described the border checks for Covid-19 as "pathetic" - and want more scrutiny for those headed home.
Everyone flying home is now required to self-isolate for 14 days - the eight new cases of coronavirus confirmed on Thursday had all been travelling and recently returned from overseas.
Passengers touching down at Auckland Airport say the attitude of customs and health staff was casual - with no urgency placed on the seriousness of the situation.
