Free period products to soon be available in NZ schools

The government is tackling period poverty by rolling out access to free period products in schools.

During term three, the Ministry of Education programme will start in 15 schools in Waikato, before expanding to all state and state-integrated schools on an opt-in basis next year.

Minister for Women Julie Anne Genter says menstruation is a fact of life for half the population, and access to these products is a necessity, not a luxury.
