Second round of gun reforms passed into law after delay

The government has pushed through its second tranche of firearm reforms, fifteen months since a gunman killed 51 people in Christchurch.

The legislation, which has been mired in delay, passed its final reading this afternoon with the support of Labour, New Zealand First and the Greens. It includes a firearms registry, harsher penalties, and a warning system to show if a licence holder is a fit and proper person.
