Hiking Aotearoa for suicide awareness - the home stretch

From Checkpoint, 6:23 pm on 24 July 2020

Jono Hartland has spent the past eight months making his way down the country, on foot.

The 25-year-old is hiking the three-thousand kilometre Te Araroa Trail to raise money for mental health causes, after losing his best friend to suicide while the pair flatted together at Otago University in 2017.

Jono is approaching the homestretch and spoke to RNZ Otago-Southland reporter, Timothy Brown, from Tuatapere - some 140 kilometres from his final destination in Bluff.
