New Zealand officially in recession as election looms

New Zealand has officially fallen into its first recession in a decade - with the economy shrinking by the largest amount on record.

Official numbers show GDP - the broad measure of growth - shrank by 12.2 percent in the three months ended June - battered by the Covid-19 pandemic.
