Tourism Minister chasing 'high value' tourists post-Covid-19

The Tourism Minister is chasing the big tourism cash, signalling when New Zealand's borders open a visit here is going to be a much pricier prospect.

Speaking at a conference in Queenstown, Stuart Nash has outlined his broad vision for a post-Covid-19 tourism industry that's led by value rather than volume.

Some South Island operators and towns that are heavily reliant on international visitors have been crying out for more government help, saying they won't survive without it.

A Queenstown survey recently showed nearly a third of businesses in the town's CBD did not expect to last past winter. Stuart Nash talks to Lisa Owen.
