An update now on our story last night about the cows at Cornwall Park. The park in Auckland received angry backlash to a decision to exporting live cattle to Mongolia.
On Thursday the Cornwall Park Trust Board put out a statement to say it had reviewed its decision and on reflection would no longer be part of any overseas based breeding programmes.
Park director Michael Ayrton says they've recognised many people are concerned about various aspects of the live cattle trade from New Zealand and in light of those concerns we have decided cows from Cornwall Park will no longer be part of any overseas-based breeding programmes.
He says they've been reminded of how many people see Cornwall Park as theirs and feel they have a stake in how it is run.
