When moa bones were found three metres deep in the earth during a road construction project, it was heralded as a discovery of great significance.
At a pre-dawn ceremony, those bones were uplifted from that site, and moved to Te Manawa, the Palmerston North museum.
But for some, this is just the start - now, lab tests and investigations can date the bones, and find out more about the extinct species.
