How a pervert became CEO of a crown entity

A man who planted a spy camera in an Auckland gym's changing rooms was promoted to chief executive of a crown entity that played a crucial role in the Covid-19 response after his offending took place.

Phillip Barnes wanted his his name, and the name of International Accreditation New Zealand, known as IANZ kept secret.

But the Supreme Court has refused to hear his case, meaning - this afternoon his identity could finally be revealed.

Veronica Schmidt has been investigating the case, which has rolled on for three-and-a-half years.

She told Lisa Owen his workplace claimed to be unaware of Barnes offending.
