One year on, some at Commercial Bay still struggling

From Checkpoint, 5:38 pm on 11 June 2021

A year on from opening - some retailers at Auckland's Commercial Bay shopping centre say they're struggling to stay afloat.

The $1 billion development with more than 120 shops opened just as Covid-19 restrictions first eased last year.

Management is painting a rosy picture after a slight increase in foot traffic thanks to the trans-Tasman bubble - but they have also cut back opening hours.

Checkpoint reporter Louise Ternouth and camera operator Samuel Rillstone filed this report.
