Pop star Britney Spears has appeared in a Los Angeles court, describing a harrowing picture of the court-enforced guardianship order she has been under for more than a decade.
She described being traumatised, depressed, medicated against her will and not allowed to get pregnant, under the conservatorship run by her father who controls her finances and most of her personal decisions.
The musician, estimated to be worth up to $90 million, wants to be freed from the legal arrangement that was put in place 2008, when she suffered a mental health breakdown.
"She called it abusive, she said she's not happy, she cries all the time, she's been treated very poorly and she said she thought that the people in charge of her life need to be reminded that they're working for her," LA Times entertainment reporter Christie D'Zurilla told Checkpoint.
