Abuse in Care commission hears from Pasifika community

From Checkpoint, 5:49 pm on 19 July 2021

The Royal Commission into Abuse in Care has turned its focus on to Pacific communities.

The inquiry is spending the next two weeks listening to the stories of Pacific people who came to New Zealand in the 1950, '60s, '70s and onwards and who ended up in either state or faith-based care.

It will hear stories of discrimination, sexual and physical violence, neglect and racism.
