While students around New Zealand will return to the classroom next week, Auckland pupils will spend their ninth week at home with no date or set roadmap for their return.
The government has mandated vaccines for all health and education staff. All teachers will need to be fully vaccinated by January 1 so that schools can secure staffing for the start of the learning year.
Shirley Maihi is the Principal of Finlayson Park school in the Auckland suburb of Manurewa.
She has over 1000 students in years 1-6, most of whom are too young to be vaccinated. Shirley joins Lisa Owen.
