A day after the Oscars, Will Smith has said sorry again for his shocking assault on comedian Chris Rock - this time to the comedian himself.
In explaining his actions, striding onto the stage and violently slapping Rock in the middle of his act, Smith said that he was defending his wife after a joke was made about her appearance.
The Academy which stages the Oscars has condemned the violence, and launched a review of the incident, and says it "will explore further action and consequences".
