There was chaos on the Kapiti Coast today after tornados ripped through - tearing rooves of houses and knocking trees down.
About five properties in Waikanae Beach were damaged, with at least two families spending the night elsewhere.
A second tornado hit nearby Otaihanga half an hour later, bringing down trees that totally demolished a sleepout.
