Nelson and West Coast residents are are in clean up mode with slips and wash outs causing widespread issues in the regions.
A state of local emergency remains in place for the Nelson-Tasman and the West Coast. More than 300 homes have been evacuated in the Nelson Tasman and 104 have been assessed for damage.
In Nelson, residents evacuated from their homes described scenes of destruction when some were briefly allowed back home. Reporter Kirsty Frame and cameraman Angus Dreaver are in Nelson.
