Relief and vindication for women who, according to their lawyer, were treated like slaves.
The Employment Court has ruled six former Gloriavale women were employees who worked extremely hard under punishing conditions for years on end.
The chief judge found the women were taught from birth that they were to submit to male leadership in all aspects of their life and primed to work on the Christian community's domestic teams.
Their experience at the Christian community has left deep scars.
