There are concerns that thousands of students at low decile schools are missing out on support that could help them ace their exams.
The qualifications authority, NZQA, reports that just three percent of students sitting exams at decile one schools are using Special Assessment Conditions.
These can provide students with, for example, an assistant to read exam questions, or to write down their answers, should they struggle to do it themselves.
The number of students accessing SACs at Decile 10 schools, meanwhile, is four times higher at 12 per cent.
The Dyslexia foundation says this means there are thousands of students across the country not getting the exam help they need.
