Auckland's mayor Wayne Brown has unveiled a vision of how he'd like the waterfront to look, under his mission to claw back land currently used by the port.
The governing body met behind closed doors this week to discuss the future of the downtown area.
They are considering how best to convert parts of the port to public use, including proposals for a tidal pool, a water-based amphitheatre and an exhibition centre. Some Aucklanders are not impressed, while others say it would be an attraction for the city.
