Northland's sick and beleagured birds may have to find somewhere else nest and recovery, unless a well known local charity lands a cash injection and soon.
Each year, the Whangarei bird recovery centre nurses about 1300 of our feathered friends, including Kiwi, but doesn't get any government funding.
It's experiencing a cost living crisis too with bigger bills for food, medication and maintenance.
Currently, it needs to raise $200,000 in the next month to keep the doors open.
