The White Ferns are calling on a former captain to step into the void left by the absence of senior players when the series against England starts tomorrow.
The experienced Suzie Bates said she can't remember the last time she skippered New Zealand but she knows she hasn't done it in her hometown of Dunedin.
Bates will lead the White Ferns in the first of five T20 games.
