A member of the public has come forward in relation to the horrific injuries two young children suffered in Lower Hutt.
Police announced on Friday two children, aged five and four, had received very severe injuries over a long period of time.
They were hospitalised for two weeks, and both required surgery.
Community leaders say residents are shocked and are calling for more people to speak up.
