Auckland family home not eligible for buyout after extreme flooding

An Auckland family who've been hit by flash flooding say it feels inhumane that their family home is not eligible for a council buyout, when all of their neighbours are getting one. Brendon Deacon and his young family have twice had extreme flooding at their property, first in 2021 when they had to escape on a kayak in the middle of the night, and again in January 2023.
