Bird flu spreads to all four layer hen sheds on Otago egg farm
All chickens on the Otago poultry farm infected with avian influenza are now being killed. The highly contagious H7N6 virus has spread to all four layer hen sheds that house 160,000 chickens on the farm near Moeraki. A decision has also been made to euthanise a further 40,000 rearing chooks being housed away from the infected sheds but on the same property. Executive Director of the Egg Producers Federation, Michael Brooks spoke to Lisa Owen.
