A free range egg farm infected with avian bird flu in December is only half way through the de-contamination process and it will be months before chickens return to the Otago property. 200,000 birds had to be killed at Mainland Poultry's Hillgrove farm after birds tested positive for the highly contagious H7N6 virus in the first week of December.
