Man sent to jail for bashing pigs with iron bar

A Canterbury man has been sentenced to four months jail for bashing pigs with an iron bar. 50-year-old Clayton Thomas Dovey was trying to load four of his pigs onto a trailer at a farm north of the Waimakariri River in April last year, to take them to slaughter.
