The farmer-led group's aim is to keep in touch with Waimakariri farmers to let them know about any changes to environmental policy and to ensure they have the support they need to put good systems into practice.
The Trust is the first farmer-led group in the Waimakariri district. Its seven trustees, aged between 28 and 35, are either farm owners or managers. Trust chairperson Scott Evans, an Oxford dairy farmer, hopes the membership base will eventually represent all 350 farms throughout the Waimakariri.
