Balancing a phone on a fencepost and doing a bit of a kanikani (dance) has landed dairy farmer Shannon Munro a job.

She's the face of the Dairy NZ-commissioned Join Us campaign which aims to give a personal perspective on dairy farming.

Read more about Shannon's dancing (gum)boots and her story into farming.

Wallaby country - Walter Cameron with a wallaby he has shot

Back in the 1950s, a group of wallabies turned up at Wainui Station... and never left.

Before farmer Walter Cameron was allowed to use poison on the pesky marsupials, a hired gun was killing up to 3,500 a year.

Walter remembers first seeing a wallaby on his family's 12,000-hectare hill-country property when he was still in nappies.

A few years later, he was allowed to go hunting for them with his father.

Healing by horse: 'I'm a changed man now'

Warning: This story contains references to sexual and physical abuse and may be upsetting for some readers.

There's a whiff of bacon in the air, lazy flies are circling the horse yard and Terry King is lining up saddles and bridles with military precision.

Grooming and touching the horse is where it all starts on Terry's Equine Rehab Unit camps - three or four days of treks, cowboy breakfasts, and camaraderie for men and youths with post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD.

The volunteer group is run by male PTSD survivors and runs on the smell of an oily rag.

Click here to watch a video of the camp and read more of the stories from the men within.
