Snow Park
Cardrona Snow Farm and Park, near Wanaka
When the school bus and postal service were being stopped up Cardrona Valley near Wanaka, visionary farmer turned tourism operator John Lee bulldozed tracks on his farms and started the Cardrona Ski Field. People moved in, the services stayed. He and his wife went on to develop another tourism business, Snow Farm. They also have consent to build a gondola from the valley floor up to a new ski field, Roaring Meg.
