Deborah Wai Kapohe is both a singing teacher and one of Aotearoa’s most respected sopranos. So who better to teach Culture 101's Perlina Lau how to sing opera?
Wai Kapohe has many other strings to her bow, including singer-songwriter and arts advisor. But, most recently, she’s become a lawyer - admitted to the bar in 2021.
She’s also returned to the proscenium arch this month, performing as Eurydice in New Zealand Opera and Black Grace's co-production of (m)Orpheus, playing at The Opera House Wellington 20 to 23 September.
