On this week’s regional wrap we travel east of the Tukituki river to visit the beachside township of Haumoana in Hawkes Bay to meet Jamie Macphail.

Jamie Macphail is a musical magnet.

As the founder of the Small Hall Sessions he has the keys to many of Hawke's Bay’s historic meeting places.

The intimate concerts are beloved and bring community to isolated areas. It also and also brings musicians across Aotearoa to see parts of the country they otherwise wouldn't visit.

His first Small Hall Session was born after musician Ebony Lamb asked to play in the Hamoana Community Hall.

The event was a success and has since spawned into hundreds.

It’s a costly exercise to produce but it’s a labour of love which Jamie says, brings him purpose.
