Each week, Culture 101 puts the spotlight on a different part of Aotearoa and this week we’re in the town of Matamata.
Located in the North Island and at the base of the Kaimai Ranges, it's a popular pit stop for both travellers and tourists alike. It's a convenient central base for day trips or those making a special visit to Hobbiton.
Mia Smith is the owner of Walnut Lodge and a committee member of the Matamata Arts Club. Running since the 1960s, the club was given one of the historic Firth Tower and Museum buildings - one of New Zealand’s largest farming museums.
Mia Smith joins Culture 101 for the weekly Regional Wrap.
