If there’s an aspect of the arts Cadence Chung isn’t involved in, you sense it won’t be long before she tackles it.
A well regarded poet, Chung’s debut collection Anomalia was written in her last year of high school and published in 2022.
Her first musical, Blind Faith was staged at Wellington High School in 2021 and went on to BATS Theatre where she also premiered a play Hector this June.
A composer, musician, lyre-player, RNZ Concert presenter and mezzo-soprano - last seen in Tosca in September - Cadence Chung has already produced several albums.
In 2023 she was inaugural Ruth and Oswald L Krauss Innovator in Residence at Wai-te-ata Press. There she edited a recently published anthology of work by young New Zealanders. Mythos contains poetry, musical scores and visual art, with a QR code allowing for an audio-visual experience.
Chung is an innovator and multi-disciplinarian for sure, which is encapsulated in her latest theatre production
