76-year-old British solo yachtie delayed in NZ
A 76-year-old British woman attempting to become the oldest person to sail around the world solo, non-stop and unassisted has been delayed in New Zealand. Jeanne Socrates, who holds the record for the oldest woman to achieve that feat, has been struggling to get into Oamaru Harbour to carry out repairs. So she headed to Timaru instead. Ms Socrates spoke to our producer Lydia Batham via satellite phone last night, as she sailed to Timaru.
