Many New Zealanders are desperately pleading for Pharmac to fund life-saving medication for them or their loved ones.
Last week, First Up told the story of 14-year-old Stella Beswick who has Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Her family have pleaded with Pharmac to fund Spinraza - a drug that is funded in 49 other countries and has been proven to halt the disorder, and in some cases reverse deterioration.
The story invoked such a huge response from listeners and followers on social media who shared similar experiencies.
Today we begin a week-long series sharing some of their stories with you.
Today you'll hear from Troy Elliot, whose wife has breast cancer, Judy Lawrence whose granddaughter has SMA and Bella Guybay, whose daughter has epilepsy.
* Join First Up tomorrow for part two of that week-long series.
