A set of giant animatronic food items which simultaneously thrilled and terrified a generation of New Zealanders is up for grabs on TradeMe The 11 characters from the defunct Big Fresh supermarket chain are on sale for four-and-a-half-thousand dollars from the Auckland second-hand store 'Junk and Disorderly.'
They include a scowling carrot, a banana reclining on the beach and a knife-weilding block of cheese.
Journalist Hayden Donnell, who hosts the television show Get it To Te Papa, hopes that the collection ends up in a public display, and says candidates running in the Auckland mayoral elections are missing a trick not vowing to purchase them if elected.
