MPs receive unwanted plastic 'presents' in the mail

From First Up, 5:24 am on 25 October 2019

Parcels stuffed with single-use plastic are landing in parliamentary post-boxes, sent from concerned Kiwis across the country. It's all part of a new movement, demanding the politicians put aside party politics to reduce unwanted single use plastics through legislation, bans and levies. More than 500 people have joined the 'Plastic 2 Parliament' movement, which is targeting one politician every Monday and making use of the parliamentary free-post. On the receiving end of the second batch of posted plastic, this week, was National's Environment Spokesperson Scott Simpson. He told RNZ reporter Katie Todd his first reaction was to marvel at how beautifully wrapped they were.
