Schools resist enrolments by violent children
The Education Ministry says it's increasingly struggling to persuade schools to enrol violent children who have been excluded from other schools. It recently told MPs that it is becoming a challenge even to use its legal powers to direct school to enrol an excluded child. Pat Newman from the Tai Tokerau Principals Association told our education correspondent John Gerritsen he knows some principals have seriously thought about refusing a ministry directive to enrol a child.
