Diverted cruise ship - no Covid-19 passengers on board
Tauranga residents say they're concerned over the unexpected arrival of a cruise ship docking in the local port this morning with 7 people on board showing flu-like symptoms. According to Tourism Bay Of Plenty, staff from the Ministry of Health have determined there is no risk of COVID-19 on board the vessel which has 4,369 passengers and crew on board. The ship had to divert after passengers and crew were prohibited from disembarking at ports in Vanuatu and New Caledonia due to Coronavirus concerns. Tauranga Mayor Tenby Powell's been working alongside local authorities to reassure community members they are safe and joins me now.
