Destiny Paikea up for Junior Shearer at Golden Shears
The country's best shearers are gearing up for a busy day of finals today at The Golden Shears in Masterton. Teenage hopeful Destiny Paikea, of Ngati Whatua descent, has qualified for the Junior Shearing Final. She grew up in West Otago as a wool handler and eventually began competing in shearing competitions two years ago. She spoke to our reporter Te Aniwa Hurihanganui about what it takes to perform at the national shearing stage.
