Aviation expert says airlines will weather coronavirus storm

It will be a turbulent path ahead for airlines - but an aviation expert says most will weather the coronavirus storm. Yesterday Air New Zealand scrapped its financial forecasts for the next year - announcing hiring freezes, a cut to services, and that the CEO will take a 15 percent pay cut, They're not the ony airline suffering due to fears over travelling amid the Covid-19 outbreak. Last week European airline FlyBe collapsed into administration because the coronavirus added to the woes of an already struggling business - and the International Air Transport Association announced the financial cost ot the industry could be as a high as 113 billion US dollars. But Geoffrey Thomas, who's the editor in chief of Airline Ratings dot com, told First Up's Lydia Batham that while vulnerable, most airlines will recover.
