Police drop controversial Armed Response Teams
The New Zealand Police have announced an end to their controversial Armed Response Teams - saying they don't align with the style of policing New Zealanders expect. First introduced last year - the teams were launched in Counties Manukau, Waikato and Canterbury with the purpose of responding to critical and high-risk incidents. At the time, the former head of the Criminal Justice Advisory Group, Chester Borrows, worried they could enflame tensions with Maori and Pasifika communities. He joins Indira now.
